JESSICA CRIED

(Shelly Rann)
Andy Goggin / Michelle Bech

He made her grow up though she was just a child

Made her a woman but took away her smile

And momma didn’t care much if this pretty thing lived or died

Guess no one ever noticed just how much Jessica cried

Deep inside her shame started to burn

All she ever wanted was to learn how to love a man

Searchin’ for the answers she gave away her love

To any man who made her laugh or smile for a while

But alone at night, Jessica Cried

Then she turned eighteen and finally got away

Nights working tables and cleaning by day

But she never rolled her sleeves up and she always seemed so calm

Guess no one ever noticed those little cuts on Jessica´s arms

Deep inside her shame started to burn

All she ever wanted was to learn how to love a man

Searchin’ for the answers she gave away her love

To any man who made her laugh or smile for a while

But alone at night, Jessica Cried

One day she couldn’t bleed the pain out anymore

She still felt dirty as she headed out the door

On the bridge above the river she screamed out loud,

“Daddy, I hope your little girl has done you proud!”

Searchin’ for the answer she looked up to the sky

As she falls towards the river she finds her peace of mind

As one last time, Jessica Cried
